DWA FANM is recognized as tax exempt under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
In September 2000, Dwa Fanm was honored with a fellowship from the Soros Foundation/Open Society Institute to support its public education campaigns against violence on women and girls.

In 2001 the founding members of Dwa Fanm received Haitian Women of Distinction Awards from the New York City Council.

For its work against violence, Dwa Fanm was honored with a prestigious Union Square Award in 2001, a Hero Award in 2002, and an Emigrant Award in 2003.

In 2004, Dwa Fanm was the recipient of a Governor's Justice, Freedom and Courage Award.

Dwa Fanm's Executive Director was honored in 2003, 2004 and 2005 with an appointment as Almoner to the Havens Relief Fund Society to independently administer emergency grants to families experiencing domestic violence with the purpose of promoting self-sufficiency.
